I think the great thing about America is that we all think as individuals, we have power. Don't get me wrong, in a way, we do. WE get to vote! But, whoever we elect is essentially going to do what they think is best. This didn't work out too well with our last two presidents( from sex scandals to unprecedented wars).
I just wonder if someone else has a better idea than democracy? Does that make me unpatriotic? I love America. I love the people that live in this country and I love that we have freedom of speech. I don't love that we are chronic users and love material things an emit more CO2 and other toxic gases than any other country in the world. BUT, that's besides the point. I think the only thing we, as individuals, have power over is our own thoughts. This goes along with all the philosophy books I've been reading lately. Thank you, Rene Descartes!

I love that you said that. We always say how we need capitalism but we should not be so enthralled in materialism. You got it. We can't be both. Capitalism's best friend it kitsch. We need a system that encourages innovation capitalism is $$ driven not innovation driven.
